Day 62 - Friday 01/12/2006

Blazing Saddles!!!

Well almost have finally crossed the final frontier we also managed to get rid of the the Final pannier. Only moments after Nick had got off his bike at Alan & Kathys a strong small of burning came from within the house. Nick realised it was his pannier which had completely melted on the inside where it had been resting against the exhaust pipe. On opening it was still smouldering and had burnt most of his clothes (photos to follow). Anyway we had to get rid of the last pannier somehow but quite a spectacular way to do it.

Todays being spent shopping- Nick for new shorts etc. and I am buying some jeans and a shirt (for those interested Levis 501s only 32 pounds) As for the next challenge you c2c supportes club will just have to wait -!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, agree with 'anonymous' earlier, how come the EDA blog has disappeared? Are we in the communist blog here?

I'm not associated with the C2C fan club or any of the other people here, I stumbled across this web site by accident and have been enjoying the daily news about this journey with a feeling of pure envy.

However, I find it a bit disturbing that a blog has been removed that was profoundly important and making a change from all the 'the ra-ra hooray' comments. If, indeed, it is true that the EDA have not been involved in providing help, then why all the spiel of what a
great help they've been on the front page. I have no issue with supporting them, as I'm sure they do wonderful work, but why the pretense?

You surely don't need an excuse or a reason to embark on the adventure of a lifetime: just wanting to do it (and you've done it amazingly well) is enough without despoiling things with a pseudo charity hat on.

Sadly, I expect this will be removed which is a shame.

I really think this has been an inspiration to many people - I just wish the reasons were honest.

Don’t assume that the reasons were not honest!

I know those involved and I know that all the fundraising was done with all the best intensions and with a genuine appreciation of what EDA has done for those involved.

Agree with the tunnelismylocal. No communist editing went on here. Those involved (inc. eda) agreed that the sentiment may have been misinterpreted. Hey, what a good idea though. It has revitalised the blog and all the good wishes.
